About HCPCS Level II
HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) Level II codes are alphanumeric codes – one letter followed by four digits – maintained by CMS for products, supplies and services not described by CPT: ambulance rides, durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, drugs administered by injection (J codes) and many temporary codes. Level II modifiers (two characters, e.g. KX, GA, LT, RT) add information to a code on a claim.
