About NPI Atlas

NPI Atlas is a free, fast directory of the U.S. National Provider Identifier (NPI) registry. It helps patients, billing teams, pharmacies and credentialing staff find a provider’s NPI number, practice address, phone number, taxonomy codes and license details in seconds.

Where the data comes from

Every record comes from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the public NPI registry maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). NPPES publishes the full registry every month and incremental update files every week. We load both, so new NPI numbers and changes usually appear here within a few days. Specialty names and definitions come from the NUCC Health Care Provider Taxonomy code set.

Accuracy

We show the information exactly as providers reported it to NPPES, with formatting cleaned up for readability. We do not add, rate or review providers. NPPES data is self-reported, so always confirm licenses with the state licensing board and coverage with the insurer.

Updating or removing a record

Providers can change their information at nppes.cms.hhs.gov. The change appears here after the next weekly update. If a page shows outdated information after that, contact us.
